Sanctity Wins the Gold Aleph for Best Short Film at Beirut International Film Festival
Ahd's "Sanctity/La Saintete" has won it's 3rd festival prize with the Gold ALEPH for Best Middle East Short Film at the 13th Beirut International Film Festival on Thursday, October 10.She is the first Saudi woman to study film acting and filmmaking in the USA.
Shot on location in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Sanctity is Ahd's second directorial project. Sanctity also won the Second Prize at the Official Short Competition in the 6th Gulf Film Festival, and received the Development Award in the Arab Short Film Competition at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. The film screened at Berlinale 2013, 16th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts, 7th Ayam Beirut Al Cinema'yia Arab Film Festival, 10th Arab Film Festival Australia and at London's Bird's Eye View Film Festival, which focuses on women's contributions to the film industry.
Sanctity is a story of Areej, a pregnant, young widow. The film stars veteran Saudi actor Mohamed Bakr, and Mohamed Othman in his first acting role.
