Producer Amina Dasmal's The Double Hits the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman

Emirati Producer Amina Dasmal's The Double will have its theatrical release in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman starting April 3rd, 2014, by Front Row Filmed Entertainment, the company serving as the film's distributor in the MENA region. The film's release date in Egypt will be revealed soon.

The Double will also take part in the Washington, DC International Film Festival where it screens on 22nd and 24th April, 2014.

Co-founded by Emirati Producer Amina Dasmal and British Producer Robin Fox, The Double is the latest film production by Alcove Entertainment. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska, and is directed by Richard Ayoade.

Magnolia Pictures has announced its acquisition of US distribution rights of The Double following its successful world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.

Commenting on this, Producer Amina Dasmal said, "I've been looking forward to having The
Double screening at the GCC and specifically in the UAE, my home country, once again after its initial screening at the most recent installment of Abu Dhabi Film Festival. I believe the film will appeal to a diverse audience and hope it reaches as many people as possible."

The Double now screens in the UAE: In Abu Dhabi | Cineroyal in Dalma Mall, Al Wahda Cinema, Grand Cinema at Al Mariah Mall; in Dubai | VOX Mall of Emirates, Reel in The Dubai Mall, Grand Megaplex; Sharjah | Grand Buhairah, and Fujeirah | Cineplex.

The Double will also be released in five screens in Doha, Qatar: Grand Cinecenter, Grand Cinecenter, The Mall, Landmark and Royal Plaza.

The film will also be in two screens in Bahrain: Cineco at Bahrain City Center and Seef Cineplex.

In Oman, the film will be in: Muscat | City Cinema Al Shatti and City Cinema MGM; Sohar | City Cinema Sohar and Salalah | City Cinema Salalah.

Adapted from Fyodor Dostoevsky's celebrated novella of the same name, by writer Avi Korine and Richard Ayoade, the film tells the story of Simon, an undervalued man driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his confident and ambitious doppelganger who gets a job at the same company.

Producer Amina Dasmal's The Double competed at Sundance Film Festival, one of the most prominent independent film festivals in the US, within the Spotlight program, which aims to honor the best film achievements from across the world, the film's director Richard Ayoade and star Jesse Eisenberg were in attendance at the festival.

The Double won the Best Actor Award for Jesse Eisenberg within the New Horizons Competition at the 7th Abu Dhabi Film Festival. This came after the film's participation at the Official Competition at Tokyo International Film Festival and 57th BFI London Film Festival.

The Double is Ayoade's second feature film, and marks an unexpected twist in the oeuvre for the actor/director who is best known for TV comedies in the UK such as The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd. Ayoade describes The Double as a film highlighting the concepts of solitude and human need to love and be loved.

The film is a Film4 and BFI presentation of an Alcove Entertainment production in association with Protagonist Pictures, with executive producers Michael Caine (MC Pictures), Tessa Ross (Film4), Graeme Cox (Attercop) and Nigel Williams. StudioCanal is handling the film's theatrical release in the UK. On the other hand, Front Row Filmed Entertainment company has acquired distribution rights in the Middle East.

In 2009, Amina was featured by Arabian Business magazine as one of the top business women under 30. Moreover, she was included in the 50 most powerful business women in the Middle East in 2008 by Forbes Magazine. In 2011, she earned the 27th place in the Arabian Business magazine in their list of the 100 most powerful business women in the Arab business field.
