After the release of its official trailer that has reached over 15 million views, becoming the most watched trailer for an Arab film, The Blue Elephant 2 continues to surprise audiences, this time, with the unveiling of its 4 upside-down character posters reflecting the peculiarities of a mysterious atmosphere.The posters feature four cast members: Karim Abdelaziz, Nelly Karim, Hend Sabry, and Eyad Nassar. Their styles and costumes in the posters reveal that they will be playing multiple characters in the film.
Five years after the events in the first film, Dr. Yehia Rashid is summoned to female-only ward no. 8, where he meets someone who messes up his life and his family’s life. In his attempt to take control of his life and solve this new mystery, Yehia seeks the help of the Blue Elephant pills.
The Blue Elephant 2 brings together the same cast and crew of the first film, including director Marwan Hamed, screenwriter Ahmed Mourad, and stars Karim Abdelaziz and Nelly Karim, along with new cast members joining the sequel; Hend Sabry, Eyad Nassar, Tara Emad and Marwan Younis. The new film also features the crew members who contributed to the success of the first film: DOP Ahmad Al Morsy, Editor Ahmed Hafez, Costume Designer Nahed Nasrallah, Music Composer Hesham Nazih, Production Designer Mohamed Attia, along with Producer Ahmad Badawy, Director of Synergy Films that is founded by Producer Tamer Morsi.
The Blue Elephant (2014) is one of the highest-grossing Egyptian films in the last decade. The film grossed more than EGP 35 million in Egyptian theaters, and almost 1.2 million tickets were sold. Moreover, The Blue Elephant received a rating of 8.6 on IMDb voted to by more than 21,000 users, making it one of the highest rated Arabic films on IMDb. The film is still one of the most watched films on TV and VOD platforms. Director Marwan Hamed adapted writer Ahmed Mourad's best-selling book The Blue Elephant that was released in 2012. The novel was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) in 2014.
