Yed Meriem Film Project Receives MAD Solutions Award at the Amman International Film Festival
Yed Meriem film project, by director Mouzahem Yahia, won a post-production award, which is presented by MAD Solutions within the pitching platform of the Amman Film Industry Days (AFID) at the second edition of the Amman International Film Festival. The award is a minimum guarantee in exchange for the distribution and sales rights in the Arab world worth US$ 10,000.

Commenting on that, the head of industry Bassam Alasad said:" This year we selected 13 projects to be part of Amman Industry days (AFID) pitching platforms to pitch Infront of the jury. The projects had a new and modern way of storytelling that made the jury work very hard to award the winners, and we are glad that the industry days will be part of their journey developing and finishing their projects."

The Amman Film Industry Days (AFID) provides a variety of workshops, masterclasses and a series of talks with Jordanian and Arab film professionals who share their expertise and discuss the challenges they face in the industry.

In the heart-lighted Yed Meriem film project, Meriem, an ordinary girl, and a group of students, from Bab Al Zawaar University, will embark on a trip to the Algerian south where they will encounter a series of surprising events. To protect the heritage of the Tuareg’s Queen from destruction by a corrupt businessman called Youssef, Meriem will be exclusively chosen to take over this extraordinary mission.

Directed by Mouzahem Yahia and witten by Youcef Baaloudj, Yed Meriem is produced by the Algerian Center for Cinema Development, with the support of the National Fund of Art, Technology and Cinematography Development and The Promotion of Literature and Arts of the Algerian Ministry of Culture. The film’s executive production is supervised by Maysan Brood Institution.

The film features a wide array of stars who many of them are social media influencers, including Farouk Boudjemline, Mohamed Abrkan, Nahla, Lydia Chebout, Abdelkrim Derradji, Amin Qaroja.

The award offered by MAD Solutions comes as part of the company's strategy to support the Arab film industry through its different production stages internationally and regionally and to promote them in the long run. The company previously offered similar awards at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, where the award was dedicated to films from the Maghreb region, the MAFF Market Forum (MMF) of the Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden, the Palestine Cinema Days, the Festival National du Film Professional Meetings in Tangier, Morocco, and the Final Cut in Venice Workshop at the Venice International Film Festival.
