When the Sea was Blue World Premieres at Aswan International Women Film Festival
The short film When the Sea was Blue by director Amr Elseyoufi will land its world premiere at the 5th Aswan International Women Film Festival (June 24 -29), which goes under the title "The Nile Edition"

The Aswan International Women Film Festival is held under the auspices of the National Council for Women, with the support of the ministries of Culture and Tourism, the governorate of Aswan, the European Union (EU), the Drosos Foundation, the Filmmakers' Syndicate, and ACT Foundation. The festival will bring together 14 films coproduced by 15 countries to its multicolored sections and programmes.

Mariam is a woman in her forties who feels burdened by the daily routine and boredom. The over-use of technology by people surrounding her puts a barrier in-between her and everyone else. One day she decides to break the dullness taking the boldest decision in her life.

Directed by Amr Elseyoufi, the film features screenwriter Mohamed Zayed, and costume designer Reem El Adl. It stars Heba Abdelghany, Mahmoud Hamdi, Nicole Iskander, and Adam Zayed. MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution.

Amr Elseyoufi is an Egyptian filmmaker who holds a BA in Mass Communication from Cairo University. He also studied Filmmaking at Rafat El-Mihy Academy. He has under his belt a number of short, feature and documentary films, including One Direction that was selected for international film festivals. When the Sea was Blue is the director’s latest film.
