Warda Is a Full House in Its Premiere across Egyptian Theatres
In response to the spooky horror wave stirred by Warda's hair-raising trailer on social media platforms and the film's release in three Arab countries simultaneously, Egyptian theatres were immensely packed-out with anticipating film goers. Tickets were sold out and a number of theatres posted the 'full house' sign outside their ticket windows in the film's premiere night which was held at 07:00 pm, Cairo time.
In Cairo and Alexandria, theatres such as Americana Plaza in Sheikh Zayed, City Stars in Nasr City and San Stefano in Alexandria were full to the limit in addition to Ramses Hilton cinema in Down Town.
MAD Solutions, the distributor of the film, announced that primary indicators showed that Warda grabbed the attention of friend groups. Representatives also noticed that theatres were mobbed with young girls who were intrigued by Warda's trailers. The film's premiere night included 40 giveaways that were granted to the first 10 attendees in line across 4 theatres in Cairo.
The spine-chilling thriller Warda is released tonight across Egypt, UAE and Oman simultaneously and is slated to release soon in Palestine. Directed by Hadi El Bagoury and written by Mohamed Hefzy, Warda is produced by The Producers and Film Clinic, in co-production with Aroma Pictures, whereas MADSolutions handles the marketing and the distribution of the film across the Arab world.
The film traces a video blogger who returns to his Egyptian countryside home to document and investigate strange happenings that have been disturbing his family since the death of his father. The film is created in the Found-Footage style, a growing independent genre of filmmaking where all or an essential part of a film depends on discovered video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists.
