WHERE THE WIND COMES FROM gets a new poster ahead of GFF Arab World premiere
MAD Solutions is excited to reveal the official poster for WHERE THE WIND COMES From — the much-awaited Tunisian feature film by director Amel Guellaty, which will have its Arab World premiere in the Narrative Competition of the eighth El Gouna Film Festival, running from October 16th to 24th.

The poster shows the two main stars, Eya Bellagha and Slim Baccar, standing in a wide, windy desert. Their open shout breaks the quiet around them. The soft colors of sand and sky match the film’s calm and thoughtful mood. This image reflects the movie’s themes of freedom, identity, and the energy of young people.

Following glowing reviews from its international festival run, including premieres at Sundance, Rotterdam, and Istanbul, WHERE THE WIND COMES FROM has earned multiple accolades, including the Golden Bee for Best Feature Film and Best Performance for Eya Bellagha at the Mediterranean Film Festival Malta, the Nakheel Award and Best Feature Film at the Toronto Arab Film Festival, the Behind the Scenes Award at MOOOV, and the Generation Jury Award at Galway Film Fleadh.

The film follows 19-year-old Alyssa and shy 23-year-old Mehdi as they dream of escaping their reality. Upon discovering a contest offering a chance to flee, they embark on a road trip to southern Tunisia, overcoming several obstacles along the way.

WHERE THE WIND COMES FROM is written, directed, and edited by Amel Guellaty and produced by Asma Chiboub of Tunisia’s Atlas Vision. The film stars Eya Bellagha, Slim Baccar, Sondos Belhassen, and Lobna Mlika. Cinematography is by Frida Marzouk. Music is composed by Omar Aloulou, and sound design is by Aymen Labidi. MAD Distribution is proud to handle the film’s Arab distribution and sales.

Amel Guellaty, born in 1988, is a Tunisian director, screenwriter, and photographer. While studying law at the Sorbonne, she worked as an assistant on films such as APRÈS MAI by Olivier Assayas and FOREIGN BODY by Raja Amari.

In 2017, she made her directorial debut with BLACK MAMBA, selected at over 60 international festivals and winner of 20 awards, later acquired by Canal+ and Italy’s RT Channel. Her second short, CHITANA (2022), also received wide international recognition. Her debut feature, WHERE THE WIND COMES FROM, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025 and has since screened at major festivals worldwide.
