UMP Releases Pacific Rim, The Heat and Turbo
Critics raved about Gravity in early reviews following the screening of the film in Venice Film Festival. Gravitywas the opening film of the prestigious festival. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney walked the red carpet along with the film's Oscar nominated director Alfonso Cuarón.
Justin Chang of Variety Magazine's review is praising of the film. "Suspending viewers alongside Bullock for a taut, transporting 91 minutes (with George Clooney in a sly supporting turn), the director's long-overdue follow-up to Children of Men is at once a nervy experiment in blockbuster minimalism and a film of robust movie-movie thrills, restoring a sense of wonder, terror and possibility to the bigscreen that should inspire awe among critics and audiences worldwide" he said.
From The Hollywood Reporter, Todd McCarthy applauded the film saying "It's as if Max Ophuls were let loose in outer space, so elegant is the visual continuity, making for a film that will have buffs and casual fans alike gaping and wondering, "How did they do that?" and returning for multiple viewings just to imbibe the sheer virtuosity of it all".
Mark Adams from Screen Daily said, "A genuinely tense and exciting lost-in-space thriller, Alfonso Cuarón's exhilarating and often spectacular 3D film is a real pleasure, driven by top-notch lead performance from Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as well as some seriously cool special effects".
Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leavingStone and Kowalsky completely alone-tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
Gravity is the long-awaited film by three-time Academy Award nominee Alfonso Cuarón, director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of the Azkaban and Children of Men, who returns to the director's chair after six years. The film will be released in IMAX and 3D in Egypt by United Motion Pictures, the biggest film distributor in the Arab world and the sole distributor of Warner Bros. films in Egypt.
