Two Shorts by Saleh Nass to Screen at Four International Film Festivals
Bahraini director Saleh Nass will be part of four international film festivals with two shorts. His film Central Market will be part of the International Short Film Festival on Sustainability in Milano, Italy, Cinema on Stairs initiative and Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in the Republic of Tatarstan. His new film Pick-Up will land a world premiere at Message to Man International Film Festival of documentary, short fiction and animated films in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Central Market will be competing within the Food and Water section of the International Competition against 9 other films from across the world as part of International Short Film Festival on Sustainability in Milano, Italy. To screen on August 27th, Central Market has been selected as one of the films highlighting a story related to the topic of food and water in general.

Taking place under the auspices of Tripoli Foundation, Cinema on Stairs initiative organizes public projections in some of Tripoli's most marginalized neighborhoods this summer in an attempt to broaden the cultural life of the locals and help with the rehabilitation process of those stigmatized areas (Bab el Tebbaneh, Jabal Mohsen). The locals' enthusiastic response to Tripoli Film Festival since its beginning, helped continue and broaden the experience during summer.

Central Market's second destination is the 11th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival which will be held in the Republic of Tatarstan from 5 to 11 September 2015. The festival's main aim is the experience exchange of the workers in the sphere of culture and arts of Russia and Muslim countries of the neighboring and far-abroad countries and displaying the creative achievements of the Muslim cinematographers and the representatives of the other religious affiliation.

Nass' film Pick-Up will have its world premiere at Message to Man International Film Festival of documentary, short fiction and animated films in Saint Petersburg, Russia from 26 September to 3 October 2015.

Produced and directed by Saleh Nass, Pick-Up tells the story of a girl who is ashamed to face the embarrassment of being picked up from school by her father in his dusty un-cool pick-up truck. Written by Saleh Nass and Laila Albeiti, Pick-Up stars Jamaan Alrowaiei and Hawra Fouad.

Central Market, which has a total runtime of ten minutes, is written and directed by Saleh Nass. It tells the story of a boy (Abdulla Hassan Ali) who works his afternoons at the local fruit and vegetable market carrying and delivering groceries. He's always searching for a quick buck to be made. An opportunity arises to make some 'serious cash' by trying to milk a small goat.

Central Market has had a solid festival schedule after premiering at the Montreal World Film Festival in August 2014. The film then went on to screen at Dubai International Film Festival, Calgary International Film Festival, Canada, Tampere Film Festival in Finland, Ayam Beirut Al Cinema'iya, Silk Road Film Festival in Dublin, Ireland, Feilmfest Dresden International Film Festival in Germany, and it landed as the only Arab film in official selection at Valencia International Film Festival in June 2015, among many other festivals and film events.

In 2012, Saleh Nass' film Game screened at more than 20 international film festivals, most notably Slamdance Film Festival in the USA. Nass has made a number of short films, including The Traveller (2004), Phone Call (2005) and The Body (2006). He is currently working on his next feature film Grace Period with producer Paul Baboudjian.
