Tunisian Short Film Noor Lands Arab World Premiere at Cairo International Film Festival
In the presence of its director, the Tunisian short film Noor by director Rim Nakhli will have its Arab world premiere at the 42nd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), within Cinema of Tomorrow competition. The film has previously landed its world premiere at Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

In the light of Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s Cairo International Film Festival has whittled down its selection of films to 84 films from across 43 countries, which makes it only half the number it regularly features every year. The screenings will take place at Cairo Opera House and Zamalek Cinema.

The film follows Nour and Adem who set off in search of their father that they have not seen in a long time. With a hope of meeting him, the children cross the city to arrive at the meeting place, but the father doesn’t show.

Written and directed by Rim Nakhli, and produced by Inside Productions (Moncef Taleb), Noor stars Nour El Houda Habbessi and Ayoub Behi. The film has received a fund from Tunisien Ministry of Cultural Affairs. MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution in the Arab region.

Rim Nakhli graduated from ISAMM (Institut Supérieur des Arts Multimédia de la Manouba) and earned a degree in Art, music and Performing Arts from the University of Bologna. She worked as an assistant director in numerous Tunisian fiction films, before she directed her debut short fiction film Ranim (Evasion) in 2017.
