Lebanese actor Camille Salameh, who stars in Toufic Khreich's Troubled Waters, won a Certificate of Appreciation for his role in the film which competed at the Muhr Arab Short competition where it had its world premiere within the frame work of the 10th Dubai International Film Festival.

The award was granted by the festival as a Special Mention in recognition of Salameh's outstanding performance in Troubled Waters and his remarkable cinematic record.

The 25-minute short tells the story of Eskandar, who comes back to Lebanon after 27 years of absence, in the hope of reconciliation with his father. Once in Lebanon, he is hunted by his memories, which bounce him between the past and the present, living the separation and the reunion with his father at the same time.

Troubled Waters was also part of Dubai Film Market's Cinetech through MAD Solutions, the company serving as the film's distributor and marketing consultant, where distributors and sales agents were allowed to see the film. Cinetech is a digital video library includes more than 400 films.

Written and and directed by Toufic Khreich, Troubled Waters is produced by Maisonette Film Production in co-production with The Postoffice and stars Rodrigue Sleiman and Camille Salameh.

Born and raised in south Lebanon, Khreich moved to Beirut for university studies where he graduated from the Lebanese academy of fine arts, L'Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA), in 2003, with a short film Houna Sawt Al Janoub (Voice of the South). Since 2003, he worked as an assistant director with Arab and International directors in TV commercials, short films, and feature films. He directed a number of TV commercials and documentaries, as well as acted in many short films.

Two years ago, Khreich started drafting a script for his first feature film, Cold Coffee, which allowed him to participate at the Sud Écriture workshop. Held between Benin and Tunisia, the workshop was conducted by Scriptwriter and Director Jacques Fieschi in 2012. In the same year, Khreich participated with the film script at the Med Film Factory in Jordan, and in 2013, he attended a rewriting workshop organized by the Lebanese Association of Cinema. Likewise, the film script was part of the Carthage Film Festival within the framework of Producers' Network and Atelier de Projets.
