Theeb to Screen within the Great Arab Revolt Centennial Celebrations
Director Naji Abu Nowar's Jordanian film Theeb has been selected to be screened within the celebrations of the Great Arab Revolt Centennial by the Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC). The Oscar®-nominated film will be screened on Wednesday, the 24th of August at 08:00 pm.
Since its world premiere in August 2014, the film has been screened in over 25 countries and won 18 film awards, including the Best Director Award at the Venice Film Festival, and 3 awards at the 12th Trans-Saharan International Film festival in Zegura (Morocco). Ahead of
Theeb's Oscar®-nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, Abu Nowar has been added to the list of members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was also named as the 2014 Filmmaker of the Year by Variety magazine.
Theeb is Jordanian director/writer Naji Abu Nowar's first feature film which he co-scripted with Bassel Ghandour. Set in the Arabian Desert of 1916, the film follows Theeb, a young Bedouin boy, and his brother Hussein as they leave the safety of their tribe to venture on a treacherous journey at the dawn of the Great Revolt. If Theeb is to survive he must quickly learn about adulthood, trust and betrayal.
The film is produced by Bayt Al Shawareb, which was founded by Jordanian Writer and Producer Bassel Ghandour, in association with Rupert Lloyd's Noor Pictures and in co-production with Nasser Kalaji and Laith Majali's Immortal Entertainment. Nadine Toukan is the Executive Producer and MAD Solutions is acting as Theeb's regional marketing consultant and regional distributor across the Arab world.
