During its first Cairo screening in six months, crowds flocked again to the movie theatre to watch the Jordanian Film, Theeb. Tickets were sold out at Zawya movie theatre, located in midtown Cairo, which hosted the film's premiere on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. The movie theatre's management team had to move the film to a bigger hall with twice the capacity to accommodate the number of audiences. This brings to mind the scene at the film's screening event at the Cairo International Film Festival last November, when the huge turnout led to an exclusive third screening event for the film.

According to the management team at Zawya theatres, the film had the highest grossing premiere in the theatre since last April. In addition, preliminary data collected by MAD Solutions, the films' distributer, predicts a great turnout at its remaining screenings in Cairo and Alexandria.

Since its premiere in September 2014, Theeb has been praised by audiences and critics all over the world. Lately, critic JayWeissberg of Variety magazine called it "one of the best films of the year", adding that it's "a classic adventure film of the best kind, mixing visual elements that express the director's maturity in his first feature film. The film was not only screened at tens of festivals, but has also been a success in the Arab world." The film was released by MAD Solutions last March in the UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Palestine.

Variety had previously named the film's director Naji Abu Nowar as the Best Arab Filmmaker of 2014; in addition, the film won several awards at renowned film festivals.

Theeb is a 100 minute-long desert adventure filmed in the southern Jordanian desert. The film's producers collaborated with the Bedouin communities who lived close to the film locations. Members of these communities, who've lived in the area for hundreds of years, even appeared in the film after taking part in an eight month-long acting workshop.

Theeb is director and writer Naji Abu Nowar's first feature film which he co-wrote with Bassel Ghandour. Set in the 1916 Arabian Desert, the film revolves around Theeb and his brother Hussein who abandon their tribe to embark on a perilous journey during the outset of the Great Arab Revolt. Theeb's survival depends on learning the principles of manhood, trust, and facing betrayal.

The film stars Gasser Eid as Theeb, along with HusseinSalama, Hassan Motlak, Margi Ouda, and Jack Fox.
