Jordanian film Theeb by director Naji Abu Nowar has added another award to its already burgeoning wall of achievements. Picking up the Best Feature Film award in the official competition at 5th Malmo Arab Film Festival (MAFF), the film has been part of the international event promoting understanding and cultural exchange among Arab speaking citizens and other ethnic groups living in Sweden.

This win comes in the light of the film's multi-award winning festival tour worldwide with the total of 13 awards and an international title.

Film Analyst Alaa Karkouti, CEO and Co-founder of the film's distributing company MAD Solutions, received the award on behalf of the filmmakers. Since its world premiere in Venice Film Festival 2014 where Naji Abu Nowar received Best Director Award at Orizzonti Competition, Theeb is now opening its second year in theatres.

Theeb is a 100-minute desert adventure filmed entirely in the southern Jordanian deserts. The film's producers collaborated with the Bedouin tribes to get a slice of life depiction of their lives. The cast was entirely formed from the local tribesmen of these communities, who've lived in the area for hundreds of years, after they were given acting workshops during the 8 months prior to principal photography.

Theeb is Jordanian director/writer Naji Abu Nowar's first feature film which he co-scripted with Bassel Ghandour. Set in the Arabian Desert of 1916, the film follows Theeb, a young Bedouin boy, and his brother Hussein as they leave the safety of their tribe to venture on a treacherous journey at the dawn of the Great Revolt. If Theeb is to survive he must quickly learn about adulthood, trust and betrayal.

The film stars the young prodigy Jacir Eid as Theeb, opposite of Hussein Salameh, Hassan Mutlag, along with Marji Audeh, and Jack Fox.

Theeb travelled to 12 countries East and West and set to premiere in the United States later this year.
