The Curve Screens at Rainbow Theatre in Jordan to Honor the Late Director Rifqi Assaf
In honor of the late Jordanian director Rifqi Assaf, who passed away last Tuesday, December 3rd, the Rainbow Art House Theatre in Amman will screen Assaf’s film The Curve on Monday 16 December. Held in collaboration with the Royal Film Commission Jordan (RFC), the screening will witness the presence of the late director's family.

Born in Amman in 1978, Rifqi Assaf is a Jordanian Filmmaker/ Screenwriter who holds a BA in English translation from ASU. He has under his belt a filmography of four short films as a scriptwriter/director, including the award-winning film The View. He wrote two other shorts for different directors: A Cold Morning In November, which was awarded the Audience and Jury Awards at the Franco Arab Film Festival and The Parrot with the support of Robert Bosch Stiftung Fund in Germany. In addition, he published several critical and literary articles. His only feature film credit is The Curve. The film was shortlisted in Abu Dhabi Film Comission's Shasha Grant, as one of the best screenplays to support, and was the winner of The Arab Fund for Culture and Arts (AFAC), and is supported by the Jordanian Film Fund (JFF), by the Royal Film Commission Jordan.

The Curve film took part in the fifth Jabal Amman Cultural Week and landed its world premiere at the 12th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). The film's European premiere was at East End Film Festival (EEFF) in the UK, and its North American premiere was made at the 42nd Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) in the USA. Most recently, the film was screened in the opening ceremony of the Arab Film Festival and took part in the Festival International de Cinéma et Mémoire Commune de Nador (the International Festival of Common Memory Cinema in Nador).

The Curve is about Radi, who leads a reclusive life in his own van, finds himself on a road trip with three strangers that alters his clockwork and very private lifestyle. Written and directed by Rifqi Assaf, the Curve is headlined by Palestinian star Ashraf Barhoum, Syrian actress Fatina Layla, Lebanese actor Mazen Moadam and Jordanian Ashraf Telfah.

The film is a joint production between Jordanian Rula Nasser (The Imaginarium), Egyptian Mohamed Hefzy (Film Clinic) and French Xénia Maingot (Eaux Vives Productions). MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution and marketing across the Arab world.
