The Arab Cinema Center Part of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival
The Arab Cinema Center (ACC) revealed its participation at the 1st Latin Arab Co-production Forum, which is held on the margins of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival (24-26 November). Through the forum, the Center will be hunting for and promoting projects by both Arab and Latin American directors that are ready to enter the co-production phase.
Commenting on this partnership, Christian Mouroux, Artistic Director of the Latin Arab Co-production Forum, stated, "We decided it was about time to crystallize the cooperation and co-production scenario we have been promoting from the festival. In this regard, we thought that Cooperation is conditio sine qua non [an essential and indispensable action] to build a vigorous, dynamic, and articulated audiovisual industry, as both regions have common challenges. Therefore, we need to create, efficient and solidary moments of cooperation, such as the partnership with MAD Solutions for this first edition of the Forum, which will allow us to lay the foundations for a real Latin Arab audiovisual platform."
Organized by the non-profit Organization for the Promotion of Cultural Diversity Creciente "Cine Fertil", the Latin Arab Co-production Forum targets projects in development, production and post-production stages; from Latin American and the Arab world alike. It is an opportunity to promote new audiovisual projects, enable co-production agreements, and strengthen cooperation between industry professionals with its parti-colored activities that range between pitching sessions, business rounds, work in progress competition and specialized conferences.
In September, the ACC announced its partnership with the Carthage Film Festival and signed a sponsorship agreement with .Film, a dedicated and authoritative domain space provider for the Film Industry with the aim to fight copy-cat and piracy sites.
Earlier this year, ACC revealed its year-round partnership with Variety magazine as the Center's media partner; in addition to a digital partnership with Festival Scope and a technology sponsorship with Striim.in to promote ACC's events in 2016.
