Egyptian Director Omar El Zohairy's The Aftermath of the Inauguration of the Public Toilet at Kilometer 375 won the Best Student Live Action Short (over 15 minutes) within the Students of Film Schools Competition at the 20th Palm Springs International Film Festival in the US. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the festival is one of the largest short film festivals in North America, where 330 short films screened throughout the event from June 17-23, 2014.

Inspired by Anton Checkhov's novella The Death of a Government Clerk , the 18-minute plot is about the concept of fear. Written by Sherif Naguib and directed by Omar El Zohairy , MAD Solutions serves as the film's marketing consultant.

The Aftermath of the Inauguration of the Public Toilet at Kilometer 375 had its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2014 where it took part at Cinéfondation competition; marking the first Egyptian film to be part of the competition which includes films submitted by students of film schools from across the world. The film also represented Egypt's High Cinema Institute and Academy of Arts.

Born in Cairo in 1988, Omar El Zohairy studied film directing at the High Institute of Cinema in Cairo. During his studies, he worked as an assistant for several Egyptian directors including Yosry Nasrallah and Ahmad Abdallah. His short feature debut is Zafir (Breathe Out) which premiered at the 8th Dubai Film Festival and won the Jury Special Mention Prize at Muhr Arab Short Competition. Zafir competed at 34th Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival - Cinemed.
