Tamer Karawan Adds Theatre to His Accomplishments in Music Composition
For his dazzling bravura in composing the musical score of the theatrical performance The Trial, composer Tamer Karawan received the Abdel-Azim Oweida Award for Best Music Score at the 7th Egyptian National Theatre Festival, which closed on August 25th, 2014.

Held at the Main Hall of the Cairo Opera House, the festival came to a close on Monday, August 25th, 2014, where winners were announced. Stealing the limelight, The Trial garnered several major awards including the Abdel-Azim Oweida Award for Best Music Score for Tamer Karawan, in addition to Zaki Talimat Award for Best Play, the Aziz Eid for Best Director Tarek Doweiry, and the Hamdy Ghaith Award for Best Actor Ashraf Abdel-Ghafour.

Endorsing more than 40 theatrical performances within the official competition, the 7th Egyptian National Theatre Festival also featured 14 out-of-competition performances in addition to 3 performances presented by the National Theatre for Children at the theatres of 57357 Hospital, El Demerdash Hospital and the National Cancer Institute.

A contemporary adept genius, Karawan's music career kick-started in 1998 by composing the soundtrack of El-Madina by Yousry Nassrallah in 1998, then his movies kept rolling with prominent Egyptian directors, such as Alashan Rabena Yehebak by Raafat Al Meehy; Banat Wust El-Bala and Fi Shaqet Masr El-Gedida with Mohamed Khan, Bel Alwan Al Tabe'eya by Osama Fawzy; Ehna Et'abelna Abl Keda and Cabaret by Sameh Abdel Aziz. His cooperation with Yousry Nassrallah continued in Genenet El Asmak, Ehky Ya Scheherazade, After the Battle and Bab El Shams which is regarded by Karwan as his biggest challenge in soundtrack world as the movie was aiming the international audience besides the Arabic one. Alongside films, Karawan composed the musical score of the TV hit Segn El Nesa, which was chosen by renowned critic Tarek El-Shenawy as the best music score in Ramadan 2014. In addition to Hend Sabry's social comedy Embratoryet Meen?, which was aired in Ramadan, 2014, Tamer Karawan also composed the musical score of the TV comedy Heba Regl El Ghorab as well as several music scores for TV series in Ramadan 2013 such as Taht El Ard, Zat, El Zoga El Tania, Pharoah. Previously, he took part in many TV series with his remarkable scores, namely; Zai El ward, El Horoub, Taraf Thaleth (2012), Mowaten X (2011).
