Short Film Zeina, by Ayman Abdelhameed, screens at Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival, which will be held online from Feb. 14 to 28.
Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival is an online platform for screening films on a monthly basis. It showcases an array of feature and short films from different cultures and countries all over the world.
Zeina is an Egyptian farmer who faces a lot of pressure from her husband and his family due to her infertility. To save her own skin, she resorts to superstitions along with other means to get pregnant.
Written and directed by Ayman Abdelhameed, Zeina stars Hager Elsharnouby, Mohammed Ali, Islam Said and Amal Eid. The film is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.
Ayman Abdelhameed is an Egyptian filmmaker who directed a number of short movies such as Downfall and Red Card that won an award at AFAC’s Why Culture? Video competition in 2013. Furthermore, he worked as an assistant director in a number of Ads and TV shows such as El Khanka (2016) and Surface-to-Air (2017).
