Shoghlana - Egypt's first non-profit newspaper that seeks to highlight topics related to Blue Collar jobs and workers.

The newspaper's first issue is planned to be released on May 1st coinciding with Labor Day - a day for paying tribute to workers worldwide. The newspaper aims to promote self-appreciation and self-empowerment of blue collar workers as well as to enhance the societal appreciation of workers in general.

The newspaper will be introduced during a panel talk on May 1st in the Genaina Theatre in the Al-Azhar Park at 6:30 pm followed by a concert by The Choir Project Band.

The Shoghlana newspaper seeks to provide workers with information on employment and to educate them on simple workers' rights. Furthermore it gives youth insight on job profiles and actively promotes the appreciation towards the work of blue collars.

The first issue includes articles on the National Employment Pact (NEP) Initiative by the German Egyptian Business Community and its Employment Center dedicated to the matchmaking of Blue Collar Job Seekers with open vacancies. Additionally you can find a profile of a young Egyptian who found a job with the support of the NEP's Employment Center as well as an article on the history of the Labor Day and the eight-hour work day.

Shoghlana is published by MAD Solutions in cooperation with the Promotion of Blue Collar Jobs Project by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
