Samia Screens at l’Institut français de Tunisie on Friday, March 11th
Jordanian short film Samia, by Hamza Al Khatib, screens at l’Institut français de Tunisie on Friday, March 11th at 2:00 PM (GMT +1), as part of the 7th Tunisia Karama - Human Screen Festival (March 8th – 12th).
 
Most recently, Samia joined International short & independent film festival (ISIFF), Dhaka in Bangladesh. The film follows Samia, a young aspiring dancer, is diagnosed with cancer and after undergoing treatment, she begins the tough journey of mental and physical changes that cause her to withdraw from life and isolate herself. In the meanwhile, her husband tries to bring her out of her isolation by supporting her and lifting up her spirit using the music, which is part of her artistic and psychological character.
 
Written and directed by Hamza Al Khatib, Samia stars Hayat Abu Samra as Samia and Is’haq Elias as Samia’s husband. Previously, Is’haq appeared in several remarkable works, including Netflix original series: (Messiah), and (Mosul) film. The film is produced Abu Lughod Studios, a member of the Arab Media Network – AMN, in support of the Royal Film Commission-Jordan, and features producer Dima Tucan. MAD Solution handles the film’s distribution. 
 
A writer and director, Hamza Al Khatib has more than 17 years of experience working with several TV channels and production companies as Producer, Production Manager, and First Assistant Director. He has a strong academic career, teaching film in universities. Additionally, he joined several film festivals as an organizer. Samia is Al Khatib's first short film.
