Saba Mubarak Joins Feature Film Competition Jury at the 7th Malmo Film Festival in Sweden
Palestinian filmmaker Mohammad Keblawi, Festival Director of the Malmö Arab Film Festival in Sweden, has announced that Jordanian star Saba Mubarak has been selected as a member of the jury for the Feature Film competition (long and short films) at the festival's 7th edition, which will be held from October 6 to 10 October 2017. This announcement is made through the Arab Cinema Center (ACC), which is currently attending Cannes' prestigious film market Le Marché du Film. Malmö Arab Film Festival and Saba Mubarak are both contributing to ACC's activities that aim at promoting Arab cinema.

Saba Mubarak, who previously participated in Malmö, commented on her participation in the jury, "What has made me excited about this selection is the success that Malmö has achieved in Europe with its six previous editions and its role in introducing Arab cinema and its diversity among Europeans, as well as linking the Arab communities in Sweden to their original cultures."

In the same context, Keblawi stated, "Actress Saba Mubarak's name has long been connected with the Malmö Festival since its first edition with her film Transit Cities. In the second edition, she participated with the film Bentein Men Misr (Two Girls from Egypt). During both editions, she was unable to attend the festival due to prior engagements related to her film and theater projects. This year, through the Arab Cinema Center, we announce that Saba has joined the jury for the Feature Film competition (long and short films) in the 7th edition of the festival. Saba Mubarak is an Arab star who has been able to cross all barriers in the Arab world. Her films have spread and are well-known among the Arab communities in Europe. This will make her presence on the red carpet during the festival's inauguration quite special."

Both Saba Mubarak and Malmö Arab Film Festival will be present at the 70th Cannes Film Festival through their partnership with the Arab Cinema Center. Keblawi commented on the partnership, "Malmö Arab Film Festival has been one of Arab Cinema Center's partners since the center was established in 2015. One of the ACC's goals is to facilitate meetings between Arab filmmakers, which is what has been achieved for Malmö and Saba Mubarak as well."

The Malmö Arab Film Festival is dedicated to screening films from across the Arab world for the different communities, about 175 different nationalities, living in Sweden. The festival welcomes thousands of cinema-goers from Malmö and the region as well as famous actors, directors, producers and film professionals to enjoy the year's greatest films from the Arab world.
