Rupture Short Film Screens at the Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival
The short film Rupture by director Yassmina Karajah will screen at the 3rd Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival (SAFF) (March 2 - 8), within its Official Competition, marking its Egyptian premiere.

Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival (SAFF) is a non-profit cultural event organized by the Noon Foundation for Culture and Arts, with the contribution and support of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, The Ministry of Youth and Sports, The General Authority for Tourism Development and the South Sinai Governorate. This edition, the Festival is hosting an annual competition for filmmakers aiming to lead the way in introducing Asian cinema to the Arab world. The SAFF will feature a number of interesting programs, including gala events, open-air screenings, workshops, and seminars, all attended by the industry's leading filmmakers.

Rupture made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, competed in the Muhr Short competition at the 14th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), and screened at the Arab Film Festival (AFF) in California. The film won three international awards, including the Sunbird Short Film Award at the 5th Palestine Cinema Days, the Best B.C. Short Film Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF)in Canada, and the Best Narrative Short at the Slamdance Film Festival in the USA.

Rupture follows the journey of four Arab teens on their quest to find the local public pool in their new Canadian city. The film introduces a cast of first-time actors and survivors of war who channel their personal experiences of loss and new beginnings through a fictional narrative. The film stars Asaad Al Arid, Salam Almarzouq, Hussein Al Ahmad and WaziraAl Ahmad.

Rupture is written and directed by Yassmina Karajah, produced by David Findlay, LeenIssa and Virginie Nolin and distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world.
