Omar Shargawi's Film Al Medina Screens at the Festival Cinema de la Paix? In Tunisia
Al Medina by director Omar Shargawi has been selected to screen at the 17th Festival Cinema de la Paix? (Cinema of Peace?) in Tunis, Tunisia running from March 8 to March 12, 2017. Organized by the Ciné-Club de Tunis, under the supervision of the Fédération Tunisienne des Ciné-Club (FTCC), the 17th Festival Cinéma de la Paix? is going to screen Al Medina on Thursday, March 9 at 04:00 pm at the Salle du 4ème Art.
Al Medina participated in several international film festivals, most importantly, the official Feature Film Competition at the Carthage Film Festival, Arab Camera Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Oran International Arab Film Festival, and the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), where it made its world premiere.
Al Medina tells the story of Yusif who decides to come back along with his Danish pregnant wife Sarah to his home town Al Medina. His God fearing heart is following a dream of returning to his roots to search for peace and happiness with his wife and unborn child. Yet only when he kills a beggar boy, by mistake, his life changes and this throws him into the dark side of his own home town. The film stars Ashraf Farah, Ghazal, Sara Hjort Ditlevsen, Hassan Shaer, Nadera Omran, Majida Al Bashayreh, Makram Khoury, Siham Al Kurdi, and Ali Elian.
Al Medina is a co-production between Jordanian producer Rula Nasser (The Imaginarium Films) and Danish producers Tomas Radoor and Rene Ezra (Nordisk Film Production). The film's Arab world distribution and marketing is handled by MAD Distributions.
