Official poster for Karim Abouzeid’s fantasy comedy film DRACU RA drops
Nilewood Production Studios —in collaboration with United Brothers Studios and Trend VFX— has recently released the official poster for Karim Abouzeid’s upcoming comedy DRACU RA ahead of the film’s release in theaters across Egypt on October 30th.
The film’s poster depicts two vampire brothers, one chipper and bright and the other grumpy and dark, with Pharaonic statues in the background. The fantasy-comedy film seems to be a new cinematic experience that brings a fresh take on vampires throughout the ages with a comedic twist.
DRACU RA follows vampire brothers Ahmose and Ramsis, who lived harmoniously with their coven in ancient times before being hunted by humans and forced into hiding for thousands of years. Eventually, a chance encounter prompts the two out-of-touch and rusty vampires to go out into 21st-century Egypt.
The film stars the comedy duo Khaled Mansour and Shadi Alfons — who co-wrote the film alongside Mahmoud El-Far and Mina Khouzam. They are joined by Marwan Younis, and Ismail Farghaly, and rising stars Malak Badawi, Yara Azmy, Ahmed Talaat, Fares Haddad, and Hany Kandil along with guest appearances by Noor Kadri and Lebanese actress Dalida Khalil.
DRACU RA is directed by Karim Abuzeid, lensed by Hani Al-Saadawi, edited by Ramez Atef, and produced by Mohamed Abdelwahab and Mohamed Kheir Zeitar of Nilewood Production Studios, which previously produced the horror film AMMAR that featured in the Cairo International Film Festival and is currently streaming on Netflix and Shahid. The film is also produced by United Brothers Studios and Trend VFX.
Karim Abouzeid is an Egyptian producer and director who began his career by working in advertising before pivoting to television. In 2022, he directed his debut feature film 11:11 starring Jordanian actor Eyad Nassar; the film streamed on Netflix and released commercially in 10 Arab countries.
As for Khaled Mansour and Shadi Alfons, the comedians are well known for the Arabic version of the satirical comedy TV show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (SNL) and for appearing on the Golden Globe-winning international series RAMY.
