In continuation of it successful festival tours worldwide, Om Amira lands at 4 international film festivals across the UK, Italy, Spain and the USA. Naji Ismail's documentary has previously screened at several international film events and received wide critical and audience acclaim.

Aan Korb: BBC Arabic Film and Documentary Festival

Naji Ismail's film will also contend within the Documentary Competition at the Aan Korb BBC Arabic Film and Documentary Festival. Taking place over the course of four days; from October 31st to November 3rd, 2014, the London-based BBC Radio Theatre, in association with the British Council, will host the events of the festival. Aan Korb features 20 documentaries that represent a bold and diverse range of works about the Arab world since the massive Arab uprisings in 2010.

The International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao (ZINEBI)

Naji Ismail's Om Amira competes at the 56th International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao (ZINEBI), which runs through November 14-21. First launched in 1958, the festival is considered one of the highly-anticipated film events in Spain, and is accredited by the International Federation of Associations of Film Producers (FIAPF).

Twin Cities Film Festival

Om Amira will participate at the Twin Cities Film Festival in Minnesota, in November 2014. Organized under the auspices of Minza and held annually between spring and autumn, the festival is regarded as the second longest standing event for Arab films in North America.

The Author's Passage: Mediterranean Interlacements

From December 4th to the 8th of the same month, Om Amira will be part of The Author's Passage: Mediterranean Interlacements film event. First launched in Sant' Antioco in 2005, by the Cinema Club (Immagini), the 1st round of the festival was dedicated to shorts by filmmakers from the Italian island of Sardinia. In the following editions, the festival started to present non-competitive film screenings from across the Mediterranean countries, aiming to promote young filmmakers who use the short film to express their own point of view about the contemporary society. On annual basis, the festival screens almost 50 short films that have received awards from regional and international festivals.

Written and directed by Naji Ismail, Om Amira is produced by his Rahala Production and Distribution. The film received funding from Ana Hunna initiative that aims to showcase the true power and influence of women within their communities through film productions.

The 24-minute film tells the story of Amira's mother (Om Amira) who, resides with her family on a roof top, Downtown Cairo. Having no other option but to toughen up to support her family and her sick daughter suffering from a heart condition, she sells home-made sandwiches for living all night long until the sunrise in the streets of the sleepless city of Cairo. For her struggle and dedication to support her family, the film's main character, Om Amira, received the Perfect Mother award.

Om Amira has received the ACT award as the Best Women's Film at the 17th Ismailia International Film Festival, in recognition of its skillful portrayal of Egyptian women issues and woes, within the Short Documentary section.

Om Amira documentary has been officially selected to contend at the Short Film Competition within Berlin International Film Festival 2014,marking the first participation of anEgyptian film in the competition. The film also was part of the Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival. Moreover, Om Amira received the Best Cinematography Award at SIMA Awards "Social Impact Media Awards" within the Short Documentary section. The film was also screened at the Festival del Cinema Africano, d'Asia e America Latina of Milan in Italy, in addition to competing at the 12th IN THE PALACE-International Short Film Festival which takes place in June, 2014 at the town of Balchik, Bulgaria.
