Naji Abu Nowar's Theeb in Oran International Arab Film Festival
Theeb continues the exciting journey competing in the world of international festivals, as it participates in Feature Film Competition of Oran International Arab Film Festival in its
8th edition on Wednesday June 3rd until 12th of this month, competing with other 11 Arabic films, simultaneously with its screening in Egyptian theatres.The film will be screened during the festival on Friday, June 5th at 02:00 pm in Morocco Cinema, AlgeriaIn 2014, even before amassing its eight awards from across the globe, Variety magazine chose director
Naji Abu Nawar as the Best Arabic Filmmaker.
Theeb is a 100 minutes huge desert adventure was shot in the deserts of southern Jordan and involved collaboration between the filmmakers and the local Bedouin communities. The vast majority of the cast was pulled from the local tribesmen, who were given acting workshops during the eight months prior to principal photography.
Theeb is the first feature film for the Jordanian director and writer Naji Abu Nawar
and co-scripted by Bassel Ghandour. In the Ottoman province of Hijaz during World War I, a young Bedouin boy Theeb and his brother Hussein experience a greatly hastened coming of age as they embarks on a perilous desert journey to guide a British officer to his secret destination.
Theeb stars Jacir Eid opposite Hussein Salameh, Hassan Mutlag and Jack Fox.
