Music Composer Tamer Karawan Composes the Sound Track of Heba Regl Al Ghorab TV Series
Through composing different music with a rapid rhythm that arouses the viewers' curiosity for the world of fashion, Music Composer Tamer Karawan attracts the audience to the world of the comedy TV show Heba Regl El Ghorab which stars the young aspiring comedian Emmy Samir Ghanem. Produced by Sony Pictures Television Arabia, the new comedy show screens nowadays on OSN television network.
Heba Regl El Ghorab is an Egyptian adaptation of the popular American TV comedy Ugly Petty, this induced Tamer Karawan to create a new music with a different taste. "I tried to compose something different for Heba Regl El Ghorab; I wanted to give an Egyptian oriental flavor to the music to fit the characters and to carry at the same time the sense of humor that prevails in the series," comments Karawan.
Comprised of 180 episodes divided on two seasons, the show tells the story of Heba, a not-your- typical-type- young girl, who joins one of the most reputable fashion houses in Cairo as the assistant of the company's CEO Adham. She faces several obstacles in getting used to the new place while she's trying to win her boss's heart who gets into too many troubles.
Sony Pictures Television Arabia is keen on producing the series it adapts in the same professional way as its American origin, starting from the script writing, visual and artistic aspects, reaching to the soundtrack that comes on to top of the success factors of the project.
Heba Regl El Ghorab marks Karawan's first participation in comedy shows following his successful participations in composing musical scores for several television dramas and thrillers including That Al Ard, Zat, Al Zawga Al Thanya and Faraon, which were successfully screened in Ramadan 2013, in addition to Zai El Ward, Al Horoub, and Taraf Talet in 2013, and Al Mowaten X in 2011.
Tamer Karawan graduated from the faculty of Engineering at the American University in Cairo (AUC). He worked as an engineer for several years before he decided to follow his dream and study music at The Royal Academy of Music, for he loved music all his life and played it as an amateur. Karawan worked as a Film Editor, a Director and then a documentary Executive Director in Orbit TV network. In 1998, Karawan decided to be a professional music composer and he kick-started his career as a composer with the original score of Yousry Nasrallah's Al Madina in the same year. After that, Tamer participated in several successful films by Egypt's most prominent directors including Ra'fat Al Mehy's Ashan Rabena Yhebak, Banat Wust El Balad and Fi Shaket Masr Al Gedida by Mohamed Khan, Ossama Fawzy's Bel Alwan Al Tabeyia, Ehna Et2blna Abl Keda and Cabaret by Sameh Abdel Aziz in addition to Yousy Nasrallah's Genenet El Asmak, Ehki Ya Shahrazad, After the Battle and Bab Al Shams which is considered by Tamer the most challenging amongst all the films he's participated in as the film was targeting the international and Arab audiences.
Karawan has also composed the musical scores for several documentaries including Ostorat Rose Al Youssef by Mohamed Al Qaliouby in 2002, Ashekat Al Cinema by Producer and Director Marian Khoury, Tamer Ezzat's Kol Shi Hayb'aa Tamam (2005) and Makan Esmo Watan, Tahani Rached's These Girls and Giran in 2009.
Tamer Karawan's music is derived from various international music backgrounds and schools combining Jazz, Rock music and the classics with Egyptian oriental tunes presenting a remarkably new and unique type of music.
