MAD Solutions Screens Three Films at the 3rd Medfest Egypt
MAD Solutions will screen three films at the 3rd Medfest Egypt (March 21-25). The films are: the documentary AS ONE: The Autism Project by Hana Makki, the animation Ayny by Ahmad Saleh, and the short Mare Nostrum by directors Rana Kazkaz and Anas Khalaf. This edition of the festival is held under the theme of Tiny Marks.

Medfest is a medically themed international film festival that aims to explore themes related to medical and health. Each year, the festival screens a selection of short films that discuss a certain medical theme.

About AS ONE: The Autism Project

Produced by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, AS ONE: The Autism Project is an emotional documentary film focusing on the children, parents and teachers involved in 'The Autism Project', which is a theatrical and musical program in the UAE designed specifically for children on the Autism spectrum.
Ten children from diverse backgrounds were selected to take part in this creative project. The children's workshops, along with interviews from teachers and families provide a unique and insightful look into Autism.

AS ONE: The Autism Project is directed by Hana Makki, who also co-produces the film with Danielle Perissi (Image Nation Abu Dhabi). The film landed its world premiere at the 2014 Abu Dhabi Film Festival, where it received wide acclaim. The documentary took part in several international film festivals, in addition to a number of events related to raising awareness on autism around the world. The film is distributed by MAD Solutions.

About Ayny

Based on true events, Ayny follows two young boys who run away from their mother's protection and slack line on the danger of war to play music with the instrument they always dreamt to own. The film is written, directed, edited and voiced by Ahmad Saleh, music by Nizar Rohana, animated by Frank Pingel, DOP Lionel Poutiaire Somé and produced by Stefan Gieren. Distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world, the film is a co-production between Germany, Jordan, and Palestine.

Ayny made its world premiere in the Muhr Short competition of the 13th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). The film won the Best of the Best award at the Zayed University Middle East Film Festival (ZUMEFF) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the Best Third Movie - Film Competition from Outside Iraq at the 2nd Qumrah International Film Festival in Iraq, the Student Academy Award for Best Foreign Animation, and the main award (Amarji Alsumaria) at the 2nd Amarji International Film Festival For Short Films in Al Najaf, Iraq.

About Mare Nostrum

The film's events take place in 13 minutes on the shore of the Mediterranean, where a Syrian father and his little daughter flee the civil war in Syria, but the father makes a decision that could endanger his daughter's life. Directed by Rana Kazkaz and Anas Khalaf, and written by Kazkaz, Mare Nostrum stars Ziad Bakri and Zayn Khalaf. The film is a French-Syrian-Jordanian coproduction. The film is distributed by MAD Solutions.
