On the importance of the festival Ali Jaber, Dean of MBRSC and Group TV Director of MBC, commented, "This unique festival aims to give a new generation of aspiring filmmakers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to share their views in the global arena."
"There is no doubt that this festival has become a reference for students filmmakers, proven by the dramatic increase in the number of films submitted this year, which has given us the greater responsibility of providing the best experience and access to knowledge to this new generation of innovators," Jaber continued.
Original Narrative is an annual, non-profit student film festival that aims to celebrate this inexhaustible process of creativity and learning, honoring the Original idea. The festival seeks to inspire, recognize and reward the up-and-coming filmmakers of tomorrow, showcasing students' short films and screenplays from the UAE, the region and beyond, and providing a much-needed hub for students to network with peers and established industry professionals. Original Narrative offers new talents the chance to write and create innovative films and aims to raise the profile of these talented individuals.
This year, the festival will take place on February 21-24, 2015 on the AUD campus, with screenings in four different categories: Documentary, Fiction, Animation and Screenplay. It will also feature selected workshops and discussion panels as well as a wide array of entertainment by students.
