MAD Solutions Nabs 3 Awards at Tripoli Film Festival

3 films on MAD Solutions’ distribution list received 3 awards at Tripoli Film Festival, which concluded its events yesterday, October 12. The films are: Polish film Corpus Christi, by Jan Komasa, which reaped Best feature film; Railway Men, by Erige Sehiri, which won Best Documentary and Under the Concrete by Roy Arida, which scooped Jury Special award.
Corpus Christi:
Polish film CORPUS CHRISTI was nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Feature. It won over 50 awards at international film festivals, including the Venice International Film Festival, Polish International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Stockholm Film Festival, and the Polish Film Festival in America. Furthermore, the film was one of the three films nominated for the Arab Critics’ Awards for European Films.
CORPUS CHRISTI follows 20-year-old Daniel who experiences a spiritual transformation while living in a Youth Detention Center. Though his crime denies him the opportunity to officially learn to serve as clergy, he pursues his dream by dressing as a priest and ministering a small-town parish.
Directed by Jan Komasa and written by Mateusz Pacewicz, CORPUS CHRISTI stars Tomasz Zietek, Leszek Lichota, Bartosz Bielenia, Aleksandra Konieczna, and Barbara Kurzaj. The film is produced by Aurum Film, WFS Walter Film Studio, Canal+ Poland, Podkapracki Region Fund and Les Contes Modernes. It was co-financed by Polish Film Institute and CNC Cinemas Du Monde – Institut Francais. MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution in the Arab world.
Railway Men:
Railway Men is a road movie that draws a portrait of Tunisian railway men and women. Driving the old locomotive, the protagonists of the Railway Men defend their own choices despite the risks. By denouncing incompetence and corruption, this film celebrates dignity, hope and resilience.
It won a Special Mention of the Jury at the Festival CINEMED, Montpellier and Audience Award at the Festival Filmer le Travail, France. Directed and written by Erige Sehiri, Railway Men features Afef Abdelli, Ahmed Mourad,Issameddine Fitati, and Khaled Gharbi. The film is produced by Nomadis Images and Les Films de Zayna in co-production with Akka Films and Al Jazeera Documentary. Railway Men is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.
Under the Concrete:
Set in Beirut, Lebanon, the film follows a series of car bombs that explode across the country, where Alain, a 32-year-old man, decides to turn his back on this deleteriorating situation and attempt to break the world record of deep diving. Under The Concrete participated in a number of international festivals, including Festival International du Film de La Roche-sur-Yon in France and Warsaw International Film Festival and Hainan Island International Film Festival, China.
Written and directed by Roy Arida and produced by Stank, the film stars Alain Najm, Nathalie Japiot, Toufic Khreich, Ralph Choueiri, Elie Lteif, Rony Khoueiry and Roland Najm. The film is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions, while Indie Sales handles its distribution outside the Arab region.
