MAD Films claims 3 awards at Meta Film Festival’s 1st edition
Three films distributed by MAD Solutions won three awards during the first edition of the Meta Film Festival in Dubai, which ran from October 27th to the 29th. 
 
Maysoon Pachachi's OUR RIVER... OUR SKY claimed the Debut Film Special Jury Prize, while the Best Short Fiction Award went to Murad Abu Eisheh's TALA'VISION, and Mano Khalil's NEIGHBOURS won the Feature Film Special Jury Prize.

OUR RIVER... OUR SKY
OUR RIVER... OUR SKY is an ensemble film of intersecting stories that take place in the last week of 2006. It tells the stories of ordinary Iraqis trying to live their everyday lives amid unpredictable violence. 
 
The film was directed by Maysoon Pachachi, who also co-wrote the film with Irada Al-Jubori – a Baghdad-based author – and stars Darina Al-Joundi, Basim Hajar (Sweden), Meriam Abbas, renowned Iraq-based actor Mahmoud Abu Abbas, Amed Hashimi, and Ali El-Kareem (Germany).
 
It was also produced by Oxymoron Films (UK), Linked Productions (Kuwait), Les Contes Modernes (France), and Neue Mediopolis Filmproduktion (Germany).
 
NEIGHBOURS
Set in a small village on the Turkish-Syrian border during Hafez Al-Assad’s regime in the 1980s, Sero – a Kurdish child – must deal with how his small world is radically changing through absurd nationalism.
Written and directed by Mano Khalil, NEIGHBOURS stars Serhed Khalil, Jalal Al-Tawil, Jay Abdo and Samer Al-Masri, and is produced by Frame Film.
 
TALA'VISION
TALA'VISION follows the story of eight-year-old Tala, who lives within a war-torn reality. She, however, finds her solace and salvation in watching television – a banned activity that later evolves into a matter of life and death. 
 
Written and directed by Murad Abu Eisheh, the film stars Ziad Bakri, Aesha Balasem, and Khalid Al-Tarifi. 
 
TALA'VISION won several awards, including Best Narrative Film at the Student Academy Awards competition of the Oscars, going down in history as the first Arab film to do so. 
 
The film was co-produced by Jordan’s Tabi 360 and Germany’s Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
