Islam El Azzazi's About Her Lands World Premiere at Cairo International Film Festival
The feature film About Her by director and writer Islam El Azzazi will have its world premiere at the 42nd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) (December 2-12) within the International Competition, becoming one of three Egyptian films selected to compete within the festival's prestigious competition. The film is slated to release across the Arab world soon.

In the light of Covid-19 pandemic, this year's Cairo International Film Festival has whittled down its selection of films to include 84 films from across 43 countries, which is only half the number it regularly features. The screenings are set to take place at Cairo Opera House and Zamalek Cinema.

About Her is the story of a woman who experiences the different mental stages of pain caused by the loss of her beloved husband. The film follows how she expresses and endures this pain, how she becomes a free woman in a society that has the ability to destroy unconventional people.

Written and directed by Islam El Azzazi, About Her is produced and edited by Dina Farouk and Wika for Films and Production. The film stars singer and producer Nadah El Shazly, Fadwa Abed (Sabe’e Gar), Sulafa Ghanem (Fatat Al Masna'/ El Gezira 2), Salah Fahmy (Gannet El Shayateen) and Nesrine Talaat (Sabe’e Gar) along with young actor Ahmed Malek (Sheikh Jackson). The film also features an A-list crew that brings together DOP Abdelsalam Moussa (Harag w' Marag / Moga Harra/ Wahet El Ghourob), Art Director and Production Designer Onsi Abou Seif (El Kenz/ Messages of the Sea), and Costume Designer Mona El Tonsi (El Kwaissen/ Qabeel/ Al-zaybaq). MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution across the world.

Islam El Azzizi is an actor, writer and director who started his career working on a number of documentary, feature and short films to establish and co-found Semat and Wika Production and Distribution after that. Azzazi has also won Sawiris Cultural Award for Best Scenario by an Established Writer for his film About Her in 2017. He has directed a number of projects, including Day and Night.

WIKA for Films and Production includes in its repertoire a number of successful projects, including Harag w' Marag by Nadine Khan (2012) that won more than 8 international awards and Moga Hara (2013) that received a wide acclaim from the audience, screening in Ramadan. WIKA has also co-produced Mohamed Khan’s recent films Factory Girl (2013), which has previously won 13 international awards and has been selected as Egypt's submission to the best foreign-language film category of the Academy Awards, and Before the Summer Crowd (2016) along with Kiss Me Not by director Ahmed Amer.
