In the First Screening in the States, Hawi Competes for the 25th Washington Film Festival Prize!
Hawi, the film directed by Ibrahim El Batout, has been entered in an important competition alongside six other foreign films from around the world. this is in participation at the 25th Washington International Film Festival held between April 7th to the 17th. The film is presented in the Circle Award section of the festival, one of the festival's most important contests. The winner will recieve a cash prize and a chance to distribute the film in American Theaters via Snag Films; an American film distribution company.
Hawi and the six other films competing, were selected from 70 films nominated for this catagory. Other competitors include A Brand New Life, a film from South Korea, the Mexican film from Panama Chance, The Drummond Will and The Life of Fishfrom Britain, Nuummioq from Greenland, and Rejoice and Shout from the United States.
The film Hawi is now participating in the Mediterranean Panomara Films Competition of Valencia International Film Festivalheld between April 7th to 14th.
Hawi, by Ibrahim El Batout, has recently taken part in many International Festival covering several countries. After taking the Grand Prize for the best film in Al Doha Tribika Festival, Ibrahim El Batout went with his film to the 40th Rotterdam International Film Festival, held between January 26th to February 6th. The film participated in the official competition and was praised by the audiences for its high technical standards.
Hawi then participated in the 29th Fajr Film Festival in the Iranian capital, Tehran, which was held between the 5th to the 15th of February this year. Lately, Hawi, participated in the Mediterranean Films sector in the 32nd Valencia International Film Festival, which was held between the 7th to the 14th of April.
Hawi is written and directed by Ibrahim El Batout and stars a wide range of new Alexandrian actors/actresses like Mohamed El Sayed, Sherif El Dessouky, and Rina Aref, including the talented Hanan Yousef. Filming was entirely done in Alexandria and produced by Ain Shams Company owned by Ibrahim El Batout. Distribution is by The Arabia Company for Production and Distribution.
