I Have a Picture and Like a Matchstick to Screen at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi
Two documentaries distributed by MAD Solutions:  I Have A Picture: Film No. 1001 in the Life of the Oldest Extra in the World, by Mohamed Zedan  and Like a Matchstick, by Hussein Al Imam, will screen on Nov.25 and Nov.27 at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi. The screenings are held in celebration of an artwork from the Guggenheim AD collection: Love by Ayman Yossri Daydban.
 
Amid COVID-19 precautions, the screening will be held in the outdoor terrace area of Manarat Al Saadiyat for around 70 people.
 
Set in the heart of Abu Dhabi’s cultural hub of Saadiyat Island, Manarat Al Saadiyat is a multi-function cultural non-profit platform. Introducing visitors, tourists and artists to works by global artists from every corner of the world, it  hosts a vast number of cultural events including; exhibitions, panel discussions, and film screenings.
 
About I Have A Picture: Film No. 1001 in the Life of the Oldest Extra in the World:
 
It  won four international awards, including the Gold Star for Best Arabic Documentary Film at its world premiere at the 1st El Gouna Film Festival in 2017, Best Documentary Film award at the Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon, Jury Award for Best Documentary Film more than 15 minutes at the Egyptian National Film Festival, and the Best Documentary Film award at the Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) in the UAE, organized by Sharjah Art Foundation.
 
For over two months, the film had full house screenings at Zawya cinema where it was well received and highly praised.
 
With the help of Kamal El Homossany, one of the oldest assistant directors in Egypt, Zedan, a young indie filmmaker, is making a documentary about Motawe Eweis, who has worked as an extra in about 1000 Egyptian films since the forties.
 
Directed and written by Mohamed Zedan, I Have A Picture: Film No. 1001 in the Life of the Oldest Extra in the World stars Kamal EL-Homossany, Motawe Eweis. The film crew includes DOP Mohamad EL-Hadidi and Music Composer Micheal Fawzy. MAD Solutions distributes the film in the Arab world.
 
About Like a Matchstick ( Zay Ood El Kabreet):
 
It is a comic tale, brain child of
 Actor Hussein Al Imam to pay tribute to the super stars of the Egyptian cinema's Golden Era who starred in the films directed by renowned director Hassan Al Imam.
 
 Zay Ood El Kabreet features scenes for those golden stars from five of black and white films directed by the late Hassan Al Imam, such as: El Malak El Zalem (The Unjust Angel) (1954), starring Faten Hamama, Kamal Al Shennawi, Hussein Riad and Mahmoud El-Meliguy; Ana Bint Min (Whose Daughter Am I?) (1950), starring Farid Shawqi, Leila Fawzi, Mohsen Sarhan and Hussein Riad; El Gassad (The Body) (1955), starring Hend Rostom, Kamal Al Shennawi, Hussein Riad and Fatma Rouchdi; Bent Mn El Banat (One of the Girls) (1968), starring Ahmed Mazhar, Samir Sabry, Magda El Khatib and Nour El Sherif; and Hob Fel Zalam (Love in the Darkness) (1953), starring Faten Hamama, Imad Hamdi and Farid Shawqi.
 
The plot combines scenes starring 21 actors from the age of black and white films with other scenes written by and starring Hussein Al Imam. The end product leads to the rediscovery of golden age actors in a new context along with Hussein Al Imam.
 
Alongside Hussein Al Imam,  the film stars Sahar Ramy, Khaled Mahrous, Zakaria Amer, and singer Randa El-Sobky. MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution services.
