Houcem Slouli's short film CONDITIONAL DESIRE took home the Best Short Film Award at Turkey’s Accessible Film Festival, which took place from October 20th to the 26th.

Written and directed by Slouli, the 15-minute Tunisian drama follows Ahmed and Salma, who, despite residing in a society that values conformity, strive to remain honest with themselves. However, they find themselves grappling with a heart-wrenching psychological burden as they sacrifice their happiness to meet the expectations of others.

Featuring a talented cast that includes Imène Ghazouani, Slim Dhib, Ghassen Trabelsi, and Aicha Azzouz, CONDITIONAL DESIRE is produced by the esteemed Sarra Ben Hassen in collaboration with Slouli.

Previously, the film was exhibited as part of the Short Film Competition of the Silicon Valley African Film Festival in the US.

Born in Tunisia in 1994, Slouli studied Film and Audiovisual — specializing in writing and directing — at ISAMM. He gained recognition for his graduation project short film titled IITIDEL, which explores the theme of religious freedom.

He has also been working as an assistant director and casting director since 2016, lending his knowledge and attention to every production he is a part of. Moreover, Slouli has extensive expertise in advertising and Tunisian and international films and projects, working with notable Tunisian production firms like Nomadis Images, Artistes Producteurs Associés, and Instinct Bleu Films.
