Continuing her humanitarian efforts in relieving and helping refugees, Tunisian star Hend Sabry has travelled to Lebanon to join the UN World Food Programme (WFP) which aims at raising awareness of the hunger problem in the Arab world.

During her visit, Hend Sabry highlighted WFP's award-winning mobile phone application ShareTheMeal, which provides an easy means for smartphone users to help feed Syrian refugee children in Lebanon with just a tap on their phones, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Hend Sabry also met a Syrian family who lives in an abandoned shipping container in a parking lot next to a junkyard and highway in Beirut. Without running water, a source of heating or a regular income, this container was the only haven for the family.

Hend visited another Syrian refugee from Aleppo who has lost contact with all of her family members, in addition to another one who told her story of surviving the tough conditions in Syria and how she hid silently under a pickup truck transporting cattle, withstanding the stench and lack of oxygen until she reached the Lebanese border.

Hend Sabry commented on her visit "Over five painful years, I visited Syrian refugees regularly, both in camps and in urban areas, every year passes and the situation gets worse. This time, all I can say is that I don't see how longer this situation can last. It is a human catastrophe. No person on earth should be living in the back of a truck or think of selling an organ to feed his children.No child on earth should be deprived from the basic chances of survival. Today more than ever, our plight as the entire humanity should be; five years is enough."

Within her visit to Lebanon, Hend met Syrian refugees and WFP's NGO partner staff where she listened to the difficulties they are experiencing and seeks to resolve them to provide a better life.

Tunisian actress Hend Sabry is active in social and humanitarian work; since 2009, she has been working closely with the UN World Food Programme on raising awareness about hunger in the region. In 2010, Sabry had officially become a WFP Regional Ambassador against Hunger.In May 2015, she delivered an inspirational speech at TEDx Cairo Women, held at the American University in Cairo. Under the title "My Mom and The Theory of Relativity" Hend spoke for 15 minutes about her mother as the dreamy adventurous heroine.
