GAZAN TALES premieres to the Arab World at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival
Mahmoud Nabil's GAZAN TALES premieres to the MENA region is at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday, November 13 and continues until Friday, November 22, where it is due to compete in the festivals Horizons of Arab Cinema competition. 
 
The film had its world premiere at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival.
 
Notably, the film is shot in the heart of the Gaza Strip, prior to the events of the ongoing genocide, which tragically unfolded on October 7th, 2023.
 
As four men navigate distinct paths in pursuit of their own definitions of life, viewers are immersed in the daily lives of Gaza’s denizens, observing their routines— alongside their families— in their beloved city by the sea. 
 
The film is directed by Mahmoud Nabil and written and photographed by the From Gaza to the World team. The documentary follows the lives of Fadel Sorour, Youssef Gad El Haq, Abdel Aziz Sobeih, and Hamdi El Ghorra. The film was edited by Yassine Tibisi, its score composed by Shahd Awawdeh and Basil Rahula, and its sound design was done by Rafid Shamrokhi. 
 
Regarding the making of the film, director Mahmoud Nabil has stated, “It's essential to acknowledge that during the inception of our workshop From Gaza to the World, our group of aspiring filmmakers endured over a week of relentless bombardment. Yet, rather than capturing destruction and despair, they chose to amplify life's enduring spirit.”
 
Mahmoud Ahmed is a Palestinian filmmaker from Gaza. He earned a Bachelor's degree in directing and screenwriting from the prestigious Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts in Manuobah, followed by a Master's in film editing from the Higher School of Audiovisual and Cinema in Gammarth. 
 
Nabil’s cinematic workshop From Gaza to the World seeks to highlight humanity through the power of storytelling. 
 
The film is being distributed worldwide by MAD World and across the MENA region by MAD Distributions. 
 
The Cairo International Film Festival is being held from the 13th of November till the 22nd.
