Film Clinic Scoops 34 Nominations at the Arabian Cinema Awards
With the total of 34 film nominations for three of its film productions, Film Clinic has been placed on the forefront of the nominations' list at the second edition of the Arabian Cinema Awards (ACA), organized by the Dear Guest Magazine (DG). The official Facebook Page of the Arabian Cinema Awards posted a video for the nominated films namely; director Hadi El Bagoury's film Hepta: The Last Lecture that received 18 nominations, director Mohamed Diab's film Clash that received 13 nominations, and late director Mohamed Khan's film Before the Summer Crowds that received three nominations.
The ACA are awarded in 25 categories through a voting system by the ACA members of filmmakers only in the Arab world, following the example of the system adopted by the Academy Awards ceremony. The first edition of the ACA was held in March 2016 to celebrate the best talents and achievements in the films of the previous year. This edition of 2017 has been postponed until next October.
About Hepta: The Last Lecture
Hepta: The Last Lecture has now won 11 awards, including four awards from Dear Guest Magazine (DG Awards), the Audience Award at the Arabian Sights Film Festival in Washington. The film topped the Egyptian box office with revenues that surpassed 27 million EGP, becoming the highest-grossing romantic film in the history of Egyptian cinema. Moreover, the film took part in 5 other festivals: Malmo Arab Film Festival, Arab Camera Festival in Rotterdam, Cairo International Film Festival, Mediterranean Film Festival of Annaba (FAFM), and the Arab Cinema Week in New York.
Hepta: The Last Lecture is based on Mohamed Sadek's best-selling book, which portrays the seven stages of love through four paralleled stories. Mohamed Sadek's novel topped the charts in Egypt and throughout the Arab world for several weeks, and sold 36 editions.
About Clash:
In May 2016, the film landed its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival as it opened the prestigious Un Certain Regard section. During its successful festival run around the world, Clash has won 22 awards. The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) had chosen to present Clash that is Egypt's official submission to the Best Foreign-Language Film category at the Academy Awards 2017 to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HEPA) for Golden Globe Award consideration.
Tackling the political unrest that prevailed in Egypt in 2013, Clash's events take place in an 8-meter police truck, crammed with detainees representing different sects of society, their interaction with each other full of madness, violence, romance, and comedy.
About Before the Summer Crowds:
Before the Summer Crowds is the last film by late director Mohamed Khan. Co-written by Ghada Shahbandar and Nura El Sheikh, who also participated in the screenwriting, the film stars Maged El Kedwany, Hana Shiha, Ahmed Dawood, Lana Mushtaq and Hany El Metennawy. Set in a seaside resort, the film tracks a group of people who meet each other by the beginning of summer season.
Before the Summer Crowds is co-produced by five production houses, Middle West Films, Film Clinic, The Producers, Wika for Film Production and Distribution and MAD Solutions, which is in charge of the film's international distribution through its distribution arm: MAD Distribution.
