Returning to the UAE, the place that hosted its world premiere a year ago, Mohamed Khan's Factory Girl will screen today and tomorrow on the 26th and 27th of January, 2015, at The Scene Club in Dubai. A non-profit film platform, which showcases the best of world independent cinema on each month, The Scene Club was founded by Nayla Al Khaja in 2007.

Among 36 Egyptian films that were released in 2014, the Egyptian Film Association Festival
(31 January - 14 February) selected Factory Girl to compete within its 41st edition that boasts 7 films only. The film will also contend against other 4 features at the 63rd Egyptian Catholic Cinema Centre Festival (27 February - 6 March).

Factory Girl ended 2014 with receiving multiple awards from international film festivals as it received 4 awards from 18th Egyptian National Film Festival, which hosted another screening for the film at the closing ceremony. Mohamed Khan's film competed within the Feature-length Competition where it has stolen the limelight with scooping the section's major awards; First Prize, Best Director award for Mohamed Khan, Best Screenplay for Wessam Soliman and the Best Actress award for Yasmin Raeis. Factory Girl was also on the long list of the Best Foreign Language Film nominations, representing Egypt ,at the 87th Academy Awards (Oscars).

Factory Girl also received the Best Writing Award for Wessam Suleiman at Sala Women Film Festival. It also earned a Special Jury Prize at MEDFilm Festival in Italy. The film had its World Premiere at the 10th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), on December 8th, 2013, where it won the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) award for Arab Feature Competition, and the film's star Yasmin Raeis received the Best Actress award, in the Muhr Arab Feature Competition. Following her win at DIFF, Raeis earned the Best Actress award from Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden.

Starring Yasmin Raeis, Hany Adel, Salwa Khatab, Salwa Mohamed Ali, Ibtihal El Sereti and a diverse array of new promising stars, the film is written by Wessam Suleiman and produced by Mohamed Samir's DayDream Art Production. The film tells the story of Hiyam, a young factory worker, lives in a lower-middle-class neighborhood, along with her co-workers. She is clearly under the spell of Salah, the factory's new supervisor, who has expressed his admiration for her. She believes love can transcend the class differences between them. However, when a pregnancy test is discovered in the factory premises, her family and close friends accuse her of sinning. Hiyam decides not to defend herself and pays an enormous price in a society that fails to accept independent women.
