Emirati Short Rise Receives World Premiere at Abu Dhabi Film Festival
Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF) hosts the World Premiere of Emirati short music film Rise in its eighth edition. A revolutionary music film, Rise boasts staggering visual effects and
mind-blowing musical expression as its music-driven nature incites its main events. Rise is the fruit of a deluxe collaboration between salient musician Yassin Alsalman, better known for his stage name The Narcicyst (or Narcy), and innovative Emirati filmmaker Ali Mostafa.

Rise contends within the Emirates Film Competition which showcases short films by well-established directors and new discoveries from across the United Arab Emirates and GCC countries. The film is set to screen on the 24th and 27th of October, 2014 at Vox 3,
Abu Dhabi.

A new-wave picture elucidating artistic creativity in Arab filmmaking, Rise depends on visual storytelling and a clear-cut soundtrack, which from the first minute brings out a scene of boisterous events. Set in 2025, business man Jamal El-Nargisee finds himself battling a personal coup. With his imagination wrecking havoc on his reality, Jamal wonders whether his forgotten creativity was crushed by his business acumen or if he has lost his mind in the grind.

A journey into self-discovery, Rise is a short music film, merging between business and arts and is also a prelude to Alsalman's upcoming solo album. The film also stars Falah Alsalman, Saood Al-Kaabi, Sundus Abdul Hadi and Diala Makki.

Rise is directed by Ali Mostafa, one of the pioneering Emirati filmmakers. His record includes City of Life and A to B, where he collaborates as a co-director, co-producer and co-writer. The film is produced in collaboration with his close friend and creative partner Yassin Alsalman, who has also co-written the screenplay with Nizar Wattad.

Recently, the film's official trailer has been released on Narcy's official Youtube channel; whereas a special poster has been released celebrating the film's premiere at ADFF.
