Eddie Redmayne Wins the Best Actor Oscar for The Theory of Everything
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced today the award for the 87th Academy Awards with Eddie Redmayne winning the statue for Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, which is Redmayne's first Oscar win.
The 33 year-old actor has taken the award season by storm winning the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, the BAFTA for Best Leading Actor and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
The Theory of Everything previously won the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film at the BAFTA award, in addition to Best Adapted Screenplay.
Starring Eddie Redmayne (Les Misérables) and Felicity Jones (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), this is the extraordinary story of one of the world's greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (Man on Wire).
Four Star Films Egypt, the distributor of Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures films in Egypt, released The Theory of Everything.
