Dr. Georgette Savvides' Psychealth Center Hosts a Workshop on Sexual Harassment in Egypt
Counseling and Occupational Psychologist Dr. Georgette Savvides, founder of Psychealth Counseling and Training Services, revealed that an upcoming workshop on the psychology behind sexual harassment and its cultural connotations will be hosted by the center. To be held on Tuesday January 12th in Cairo, the workshop will be moderated by Political Analyst and Sociologist Ziad A. Akl, Senior Researcher at the Egyptian Studies Unit in Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies.
The workshop aims to explain various aspects of the sexual harassment phenomenon, detailed insights into the dynamics of sexual harassment, its social significance, the psychological factors responsible for its onset, the legal aspects governing sexual harassment and the manner of handling it in different social and cultural settings.
In addition to explaining how does the mental setting of sexual harassers work, the workshop also focuses on how does society deal with the phenomenon, how to use social dynamics to stand up to it and how to utilize legal rights in case subjected to sexual harassment.
A thriving Counseling and Occupational Psychologist, Dr. Georgette Savvides, received her professional Doctorate in Psychology from European and American universities. Being a member of several prestigious scientific associations and institutions, Dr. Savvides is set with a goal to change the way the Egyptian society perceive patients with psychological disorders, and raise awareness of mental illness and methods to deal with it. She worked as a consultant for several international companies including Vodafone, Coca Cola, L'Oreal, Henkel, Oracle and CIB.
Dr. Savvides is the Founder and Owner of Psychealth Counseling and Training Services in Cairo. She also writes for several magazines and has appeared in a number TV programs reflecting on several mental health-related topics. Recently, Dr. Savvides has completed an autobiography on her own life journey as a psychologist.
