Director Ahmed Ibrahim's Al Matour Competes in Muhr Short Competition at Dubai International Film Festival
Egyptian director Ahmed Ibrahim returns to the Muhr Short Competition with his new short Al Matour, which will have its world premiere at the 11th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Ibrahim will be in attendance at the festival, taking place from 10 to 17 December. Ibrahim has previously won Best Film in the Muhr Arab Shorts for Noor at the 9th edition of the festival in 2012.

Written and directed by Ahmed Ibrahim, Al Matour is produced by Ibrahim's Al-Haweya Al-Amireya Films. When the simple task of going to the beach seems nearly impossible, 25 year old Yasser and his two friends get stuck in the middle of nowhere. In the silence of the Egyptian desert they are forced to confront themselves and one other.

Starring Onos, Mohamed Mostafa and Mostafa Abdo, the film's crew also includes the award-winning cinematographer Tarek Hefny, who has previously collaborated with Ibrahim on Noor. The film is edited by Lydia Rui and Hisham Saqr, and with a musical score by Mark Louque.

Ahmed Ibrahim is a filmmaker who works between Cairo and New York. Ahmed studied law at Alexandria University before moving to New York, where he graduated from the Film and Media Studies program at New York University. His short film, Noor, screened at over twenty prestigious film festivals worldwide, winning various awards.

In New York, Ahmed has worked with artist/filmmaker Shirin Neshat as an Assistant Director and a segment producer on a number of film and performance projects alongside Natalie Portman and Darius Khondji. Currently, Ahmed is in the development stage of his first feature film, Kharouf, which won the Dubai Film Connection award from Dubai International Film Festival in 2013.
