Cairo International Film Festival's Short Film Programs enjoy full house screenings
The Cairo International Film Festival's Short Film Programs drew a significant crowd and sold out all screenings, including the second Short Film Program, which featured six films, among which were Mohamed Fawi’s BUZZ and Nejib Kthiri’s TRINOU – both of which had full house screenings at Ewart Hall and the Cairo Opera House.
Furthermore, a huge number of prominent figures attended the screenings of the fourth Short Film Program on Saturday at Ewart Hall, which featured four films, including Ward Kayyal’s HAMZA: CHASING THE GHOST CHASING ME and Dessil Mekhtigian’s FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL.

HAMZA: CHASING THE GHOST CHASING ME
Directed by Ward Kayyal and written by Majd Kayyal, HAMZA: CHASING THE GHOST CHASING ME stars Kamel Al-Basha, Ruba Blal, Motaz Malhes, and Khulood Basel.
The film follows Hamza, a middle-aged man, who refuses to abandon a routine he has kept since his release from Israeli jail. He goes into the woods every day to chase a lion that the locals don't think exists.
Despite his wife's pleadings and the villagers' contempt, Hamza sets his bait and traps in the forest, hoping to defeat the mysterious threat, finding refuge in his journey after each battle.
In the woods, Hamza is free to act according to his beliefs, fighting his own battle to heal an open wound and confront horrific memories of torture and guilt.

BUZZ
Produced by the makers of YOU WILL DIE AT TWENTY and its award-winning director Amjad Abu Alala, BUZZ is directed by Mohamed Fawi – who also co-wrote the script with Ahmed Shaweesh and Noura Adil – stars Jasour Abuelgasim, Zahra Mansour, and Ali Abdalgafar.
As her health deteriorates, a mother watches her son and daughter prepare for her inevitable passing and their new reality.

FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL
Starring Ali El-Sabh, Maria Saba, and Lala Shamamian, FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL – which is written and directed by Dessil Mekhtigian and produced by Karim Mekhtigian (Kyme - Kay-oh Productions) – previously received a development grant from Medrar for Contemporary Art.
FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL follows the story of a young woman that returns to Cairo after 10 years to organize an exhibition on Armenian photographers and realizes why she really came back amid the preparations as her family, her past, and the city of Cairo begin to take hold of her.

TRINOU
Written and directed by Nejib Kthiri and Mohamed Grayaa, Max Pemberton, and Kaouther Dhaouedi, TRINOU follows Omar, a young boy that escapes his failing body and secluded life by traveling in dreams he created from magazines his mother gives him.
When his stepfather urges his wife to change her approach towards her son and stop giving him magazines, both mother and son take an important and life-changing step.
