Cairo International Film Festival Dedicates this Year's Edition to Mariam Fakhr Eddine
The 36th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), (November 9-18, 2014), dedicates this year's edition to the late veteran actress Mariam Fakhr Eddine, who passed away yesterday at the age of 81.
Fakhr Eddine is one of the illustrious actresses of Egyptian cinema's Golden Age who starred in more than 200 films and TV series since 1951 until her retirement in 2009.
Although known for her romantically docile characters, Fakhr Eddine went out of the shell and varied her roles as she did not limit herself to only one genre and acted in music films with Farid Al-Atrash and Abdel Halim Hafez. Fakhr Eddine worked with Egypt's notable auteurs and directors. Her extensive cinematic record includes: "Ranet Khulkhal" by Mahmoud Zulfikar (1955); "La Anam" by Salah Abu Seif (1957); "Hekayet Hob" by Helmy Halim (1959); "MalakWa Shaytan" by Kamal El Sheikh (1960); "Al Asfour" by Youssef Chahine (1972).
Mariam Fakhr Eddine's name shall always standout as an important landmark in the history of Egyptian and Arab cinema.
