Cairo Film Connection Extends the Call for Submissions till 31st August
Cairo Film Connection (CFC) has announced extending the deadline for the call for film entries till August 31st, 2015. A selection of 12 projects will be picked out to be part of the Cairo Film Connection over the course of 3 days at 37th Cairo International Film Festival taking place (November 17-19).

In his statement on extending the call for submissions, advisor of CFC Mohamed Hefzy comments: "During these summer months, the Cairo Film Connection has managed to communicate with European producers with high interest and work profiles in the joint production projects related to the Arab world. We know very well that the filmmaking needs time to completion, so that we decided to give more opportunity for talented filmmakers for the completion of applications and seize the opportunity to be part of the forum and meet potential producers."

CFC offers monetary prizes for films in development and production stages one of them will also be a prize in the form of post-production services. More about the prizes will be announced soon.

CFC is hosting filmmakers from all over the world, who have a project with an Arab connection (director, producer, co-producer, main talent, location, subject matter, etc.) Producers and directors are encouraged to apply with feature-length projects either at the development or post-production phase. Feature-length creative documentaries are also encouraged to apply.

CFC hopes to host approximately projects in development, as well as works-in-progress. The deadline for applications is August 31st, 2015. Following the deadline, a team of experts will evaluate the submissions and select a maximum of 12 projects. CFC will then invite the project representatives, the director and producer, to come to Cairo for 3 days during which they will have a schedule of one-to-one meetings with both local and international producers, distributors, as sales agents and distributors.

The goal of the co-production platform is to act as an opportunity to meet and network with other entities that may be potential project partners. In addition, several cash prizes will be offered to help the projects throughout their development and completion.

CFC was held for the first time in 2010 during the 34th Cairo International Film Festival and proved its importance as a worthwhile experience to the participants. In 2012, CFC held its second edition hosting a higher number of successful meetings between filmmakers and industry delegates. Many of the filmmakers who were invited to attend the two previous editions of CFC completed their films, all notable works which achieved various successes in festivals all over the world. CFC will continue as a platform that empowers Arab filmmakers to take their projects to the widest audiences possible.
