Birmingham City University Honors Dhafer L'Abidine with Excellence in Arts Award
In appreciation of his excellence in the arts, Birmingham City University in England has honored Dhafer L'Abidine at its annual Awards Ceremony where several of the university's graduates are honored for their outstanding achievements. The ceremony was held on Friday, January 11, and Dhafer was presented with a certificate of merit and a commemorative silver pin.
Alongside Dhafer, the university honored Saleh Saeed, Chief Executive of Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC); Dr. Roger Smith, and comedian actress Danielle Pinnock.
Dhafer attended Birmingham City University to study acting and he graduated in 2001 with a Professional Acting Diploma. According to The Guardian, Birmingham City University is among the top 3 acting schools in the UK.
The university seeks to recognize and acknowledge its alumni who have made important contributions to the local, national and international community in the course of their careers or through charitable work.
Before his sky-rocketing breakthrough in the Arab world, Dhafer L'Abidine enjoyed a successful career in the West, appearing in international film productions, such as Children of Men (2006), Sex and the City 2 (2010), Centurion (2010), Black Forest (2012), and Rise of the Footsoldier (UK). Most recently, Dhafer starred in the TV series Eugénie Nights (2018), which takes place in Cairo and Port Said in 1946. In 2017, he starred in the two successful TV series Caramel and Halawat Al Dounia, for which he won the Murex D'or for Best Arab Actor in a TV series in2018.
