Bethlehem 2001 to Screen at Arab Short Film Festival
Directed by Ibrahim Handal, Short film Bethlehem 2001 screens at the 15th edition of Arab Short Film Festival (Dec.6-10) on Thursday, Dec.9, at 9:00PM, Cinema Montaigne. 
 
Organized by Nadi Lekol Nas ( Club for All People), Arab Short Film Festival is an event that aims to create a space to display cinematic achievements of young filmmakers from Lebanon and the Arab World.During the festival, film audiences meet with young talents from different backgrounds during film screenings and discussions. This offers the young participants the opportunity to express their skills and showcase their experiences in the short film industry.
 
Bethlehem 2001 world premiered at Locarno Film Festival and embarked on a tour in the Arab world where it screened at Ajyal Film Festival, Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, Palestine Cinema Days and Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival
 
A young Palestinian wander between his current reflections and his childhood memories of the military invasion and siege of Bethlehem. He tries to understand how his parents could lead him through those difficult times, hoping that would help him cope with the present time.
 
Written and directed by Ibrahim Handal, the film stars Muhammad Mughrabi, Yousef AbuShkhaidem, Hind AbuShkhaidem, Tarek Abusalameh and Karam Al-Salaymeh. MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution in the Arab world.
 
Ibrahim Handal is a Palestinian filmmaker and cinematographer from Bethlehem. In 2019, he obtained his BFA in Cinematography at Dar Al-Kalima University. Ibrahim directed several narrative and experimental short films and worked as Director of Photography on various short films including the Cannes' Cinefondation 2019 winner “Ambience” by Wissam Al Jafari. He also
 
worked on several feature film productions in Palestine in the camera and lighting departments and is currently in production on his first feature film.
