Warner Bros. Pictures released an extended 3-minute trailer for the highly awaited The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. In addition to the lengthy trailer, 7 posters were released, including character posters that focus on the major characters from the upcoming fantasy adventure.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the Lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering along the way the skin-changer Beorn and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all - a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself - the Dragon Smaug.

Desolation of Smaug is the second film in the new franchise, which is already breaking records with the first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, grossing over US$1 billion in worldwide box office sales.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is helmed by Peter Jackson, the director of The Lord of the Rings franchise. The films stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving and Evangeline Lilly.

United Motion Pictures, the biggest film distributor in the Arab world and the sole distributor of Warner Bros. Pictures films in Egypt, will release the film in 3D and IMAX 3D theatres.
